Who is this Mike Meehan anyway…

I’m a creative fella. Always have been.

Double major in Cinema Studies and English at U of T. Directed plays in university and was a drama camp counsellor / playwright / director for almost a decade.

Hundreds of on-set film crew hours logged as a grip, best boy, first assistant sound, location manager, and second / third AD.

Videographer / photographer / editor since 2012. Fluent in Adobe.

Video projects include music videos, behind-the-scenes documentaries, event sizzle reels, weddings, trailers, fundraisers, and original short films.

Photography projects include weddings, travelogues, live performances (music / theatre / stand-up comedy), studio portraiture, and artist headshots. Work displayed at the Analogue Gallery for the Sound Image Festival in 2016 and 2017.

Video specialist for the I Love Travel company from 2013 to 2015. Lead videographer / photographer / editor in destinations such as the Dominican Republic, Cuba, and Mexico.

Head photographer for the Toronto-based JFL42 comedy festival from 2013 to 2016. Live performances and portraiture.

In-house video content specialist for Indigo between 2015 and 2024. Producer of internal video content, social media videos, and live event broadcasts.

Video lead for the Tarragon Theatre since 2015. Producer of trailers for individual shows and the main season announcements.

Video producer / campaign lead for the candidacy of ex-NHL goalie Lorne Chabot for the Hockey Hall of Fame, in partnership with members of Lorne Chabot’s family.

Beyond video and photography, I raise money for the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation while taking part in the Ride to Conquer Cancer. I started “Team Care-aoke” last year, which brings together two undeniable joys: fundraising and karaoke. I have made social media content and organized / hosted a “Care-aoke Live!” event last September. Stay tuned for more to come this year.

For leisure, I love cycling long distances, performing theatrical pieces at cabaret events, singing with live karaoke bands, playing pretty good guitar / slightly-above-average piano, providing strong but gentlemanly defence on recreation league ice hockey teams, learning how to climb, enthusiastically traveling to new places, beating you at Settlers of Catan, and making videos where I act as characters such an enthusiastic royal named King Street and his troublesome sons John and Peter (all named after streets in Toronto).

So in summary, I have fun being a creative fella. No plans on stopping any time soon.
